关于此网络摄像头

The Norwegian Encore Webcam is a forward ship camera on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Encore, the last of the four Breakaway Plus ships. It looks down from high above the bow onto the painted helicopter winching circle, which carries a smiley face in sunglasses and the words WINCH ONLY, then out across the water ahead. NCL publishes the camera as a still image, with the ship’s name, the date and the time printed in a black band along the top. The bow sits in the lower left corner of the frame, so most of the picture is sea and sky. The scene moves with the voyage, from open ocean and a long curved horizon to coastlines, harbor approaches and terminals near land. After dark the picture drops to grainy black and white.

About Norwegian Encore

Norwegian Encore is the fourth Breakaway Plus ship, following Norwegian Escape, Norwegian Joy and Norwegian Bliss. NCL ordered her from Meyer Werft in July 2014 as part of a 1.6 billion euro contract for two ships. Steel was cut at Papenburg on January 31, 2018, the same day her name was announced, and her keel was laid that November. She floated out on August 17, 2019, and was delivered in Bremerhaven on October 30, 2019.

The singer Kelly Clarkson named the ship in Miami on November 21, 2019, three days before her first Caribbean cruise. At 169,116 GT and 333 meters (1,094 feet) she is one of the largest ships in the fleet, with 3,998 lower berths and a crew of about 2,100. She is registered at Nassau and flies the flag of the Bahamas. Her planned regions have included the Caribbean, Bermuda, New England and Alaska.

What Can You See on the Norwegian Encore Webcam?

On the Norwegian Encore Webcam, the winch deck is the landmark. Its grey circle and cartoon smiley sit at the bottom left, seen upside down from the camera’s position above and behind them, with a run of white railing leading out of frame toward the right. Everything else is water and sky, and the camera’s wide lens bends the horizon into a shallow arc. In low sun, a bright path across the sea can take up the right side of the picture, along with faint lens flare. Out at sea, cloud lines and passing weather are the main events. Near land, the frame can pick up headlands, breakwaters, cruise terminals and other ships. Because NCL posts stills rather than video, a port arrival shows up as a short series of frames with the scene shifting between them.

A Ship That Changed Plans Twice

Norwegian Encore was almost a different ship. In February 2017 NCL said the vessel due in 2019 would be designed for the Chinese market, like her sister Norwegian Joy. In January 2018 that plan was dropped, and she was built for Western passengers on the model of Norwegian Bliss. She is also the end of a long run: the fifteenth and last ship Meyer Werft has built for NCL, after which new orders moved to Fincantieri in Italy.

The second change came with the pandemic. NCL suspended all sailings in March 2020, only four months after her debut, which cancelled a planned summer in New York and a first Panama Canal transit toward Alaska. By October 2020 she was anchored in Weymouth Bay off the south coast of England, and she later moved alongside in Southampton.
