Norwegian Viva Webcam – Prima Class Bow Views at Sea

Stream hours: Norwegian Cruise Line puts a new image from the ship online about every 5 minutes, and the player loads each one by itself. After dark the picture is mostly black beyond the lit bow.

The Norwegian Viva Webcam is a forward ship camera on Norwegian Viva, the second ship of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Prima class. It looks down from high on the ship onto the curved bow rail and its row of lamps, with the mast set off toward the left of the frame, and then out over the water ahead. NCL publishes the camera as a still image, with the ship’s name, the date and the time in a black band along the top. The scene changes with the voyage: open water and horizon at sea, then islands, harbor entrances, piers and other ships near land. After dark the lamps pick out the rail in grainy black and white, and the glass in front of the lens reflects curtains and fittings from inside the ship.
About Norwegian Viva
Norwegian Viva is the sister of Norwegian Prima, ordered with her on February 16, 2017, under the program NCL called Project Leonardo. Fincantieri built her at Marghera, near Venice. She floated out on August 2, 2022, and NCL took delivery on August 3, 2023, as the 19th ship in the fleet. The singer Luis Fonsi became her godfather at a ceremony in Miami on November 28, 2023.
She measures 143,535 GT and 294 meters (965 feet), and she stands 69.3 meters (227 feet) tall. She carries about 3,215 passengers, with a crew of about 1,388. She is registered at Nassau and flies the flag of the Bahamas. In December 2023 she began seven-day Caribbean cruises from San Juan, Puerto Rico, leaving from the Pan American Pier in Old San Juan.

What Can You See on the Norwegian Viva Webcam?
The Norwegian Viva Webcam sits to one side of the ship, so the bow rail runs in from the left and slants down to the bottom center of the frame. The mast and the foredeck equipment stay on the left side, and the larger right side looks past the ship. The image is closer to square than most in the fleet, which gives plenty of height for the sky. Near land, piers, terminal buildings and other ships can fill the right side of the picture, and at sea it holds water and horizon. At night, the reflections are strong enough to look like a room hanging over the sea, with a bright dome light near the top center. They fade with the morning, when the outside light takes over.
A Miami Christening and a Puerto Rico Base
Less than three weeks after her Miami christening, Norwegian Viva arrived at San Juan as a new home port, where the Autoridad de los Puertos de Puerto Rico welcomed her on December 15, 2023. The ship’s Caribbean program from San Juan ran through March 2024.
On paper she is very nearly a repeat of Norwegian Prima, with the same tonnage and dimensions and the same Speedway race track. The Prima family then moved to the longer Prima Plus design, beginning with Norwegian Aqua. That leaves Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Viva as the only two ships of the shorter original layout, and a look at their cameras side by side shows just how closely the bows match.
