The Zambezi River moves quietly here, flowing past a small wooden dock and a few scattered boats. Trees line the far side of the river, their reflections sometimes breaking up as the current shifts. This stretch of river runs near Katima Mulilo, in Namibia’s far northeast. People come here to fish, cross by boat, or just sit and look out over the water. On some days, the surface barely moves. Other times, there’s a bit of activity – a person walking near the dock, a bird flying low, or someone quietly paddling across.
