Located in the southeastern Aegean Sea, near the coast of Turkey, it’s he largest of the Dodecanese islands in Greece.

Rhodes has been inhabited since the Neolithic period and has a long history involving various civilizations, including the Minoans, Mycenaeans, and Dorians. It flourished as a major economic and cultural center in ancient Greece.

One of the main attractions in the island is the Colossus of Rhodes, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This massive statue stood at the entrance of the harbor and symbolized the sun god Helios.

The Knights of St. John of Jerusalem controlled Rhodes from 1309 to 1522. They built impressive fortifications, including the Palace of the Grand Master, which still stands today.
