Opened in 2007, it hosts local sporting events and concerts and has a seating capacity of 3,500. The center was designed as an 18.5-acre (7.5 hectares) multi-purpose event complex that caters to a wide range of events, from conventions and concerts to boardroom meetings. It features a 60,000-square-foot (5,574 square meters) column-free exhibit hall, a grand ballroom, two boardrooms, and up to 16 breakout rooms for smaller gatherings. On average, the center hosts over 500 events each year, attracting approximately 400,000 attendees annually. Additionally, the McAllen Performing Arts Center is located within the convention center district, offering a venue for various cultural and entertainment events.
