Live webcam from Grand Mound Rail Depot, a historic train station located in the town of Grand Mound, Iowa, USA. It was built in 1899 and served as a stop on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad (also known as the Milwaukee Road) until the mid-20th century.
The depot building itself is a small rectangular structure with a sloping roof and a wooden exterior. It originally contained a waiting room, ticket office, and freight storage area. The depot was also equipped with a coal chute and a water tower to supply the steam locomotives that passed through.
During its peak years, the Grand Mound Rail Depot was an important transportation hub for the surrounding area, serving both passengers and freight. However, as rail travel declined in the mid-20th century, the station became less important and eventually fell into disuse.
