Live Webcam World Map

A live view of the world right now — find webcams by daylight, night, sunrise, sunset or golden hour.

A Live View of the World Right Now

This map plots every live webcam in our directory at its real-world location and overlays a permanent day-and-night layer that updates as the Earth turns. At a glance you can see which half of the planet is bathed in sunlight and which is in darkness, and watch the sunrise and sunset lines sweep across the globe throughout the day.

Find Webcams by the Sun

Use the sunlight filters to show only the webcams currently in a particular moment of the solar day: full daylight, night, the hour around sunrise or sunset, or golden hour — the low-sun period photographers love. Every calculation is based on each webcam's own latitude and longitude and the current date, so it stays correct across every time zone, both hemispheres and all seasons, including the polar regions where the sun may not rise or set at all.

Filter by Theme

Combine the sunlight filters with our webcam themes — beaches, mountains, cities, railways, harbours and more — to find exactly the kind of view you are after. For example, show beaches at sunset, railways in daylight, or mountains during golden hour. Selecting several themes broadens the results to any of them, while the sunlight filter still applies.

How the Day and Night Layer Works

The shaded overlay shows the sun's current position relative to every point on Earth. Daylit areas stay bright; as the sun dips below the horizon the map darkens gradually through civil, nautical and astronomical twilight into full night, rather than switching at a single hard line. The boundary moves continuously, so the map always reflects the world as it is at this moment.

What Is Golden Hour?

Golden hour is the period shortly after sunrise and shortly before sunset when the sun sits low in the sky and light turns warm and soft. We define it by the sun's elevation — roughly between four degrees below and six degrees above the horizon — so it is identified consistently anywhere in the world regardless of the season.
