About E/V Nautilus
E/V Nautilus is a dedicated research vessel operated by the nonprofit Ocean Exploration Trust. The ship was built in Rostock, Germany, in 1967 and was later acquired for ocean exploration work led by the organization founded by oceanographer Robert Ballard. Ocean Exploration Trust has conducted expeditions aboard Nautilus since 2009.
The vessel measures 68.23 m (224 ft) long with a beam of 10.5 m (34.5 ft). Its scientific systems include remotely operated vehicles, seafloor mapping sonar, wet and data laboratories, and satellite communications used for telepresence.
