About HANSEATIC nature
HANSEATIC nature is the first ship in Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ modern expedition class. Built by VARD Group and entering service in 2019, the vessel was designed for small-ship expedition travel in both polar and warmer regions. It measures 139 m (456 ft) long and 22 m (72 ft) wide, with a gross tonnage of 15,650 GT.
The ship accommodates a maximum of 230 guests, reduced to 199 on Antarctic expeditions and certain polar voyages. Its PC6 Polar Class allows operation in demanding ice conditions, while a relatively small size gives the vessel access to areas that larger cruise ships cannot easily reach. Expedition equipment includes Zodiacs, a marina, extensive outdoor deck areas, and two retractable glass balconies. The bow area also features the Nature Walk, designed to give passengers unobstructed views close to the front of the ship.
HANSEATIC nature has 120 cabins and suites across seven passenger decks, with around 175 crew members serving the vessel.
