Regal Princess Webcam – Named by the Love Boat Cast

Stream hours: Princess Cruises puts a new satellite image from the bridge online about every 5 minutes, and the player loads each one by itself. After dark the picture is mostly black, and a frame can lag when visibility, weather or the satellite link allow.

About this webcam
The Regal Princess Webcam is the bridge camera of Regal Princess, the second Royal Class ship built for Princess Cruises and the second Princess ship to carry the name. A satellite image from the bridge reaches the page every five minutes, so what loads is a still photograph that refreshes itself, not a video stream. The ship’s name and the time in UTC and in local time sit in a box in the top left corner, the temperature and a weather symbol in the top right, and a caption across the bottom says whether she is in port or which port she is heading for. The foremast stands at the bottom center of the frame, and everything else is whatever the ship is sailing toward: open water, a coastline, or a harbor entrance.
About Regal Princess
Regal Princess and her sister Royal Princess were ordered from Fincantieri in February 2010, and the final contract was signed on May 4, 2010. Her keel was laid at Monfalcone, Italy, on August 28, 2012, the day the name was announced, and the float-out ceremony took place on March 26, 2013. After sea trials in the Adriatic from April 16 to 21, 2014, she arrived 13 days ahead of schedule and was delivered on May 11, 2014. The early handover moved her maiden voyage forward from June 2 to May 20, a sailing from Venice to Corfu, Mykonos and an overnight in Istanbul, after a four-night preview cruise from Trieste to Kotor.
She spent that first season in the Mediterranean and crossed to Port Everglades in the fall of 2014. Until 2020 her pattern was Caribbean winters from Fort Lauderdale, Baltic summers in northern Europe, and short fall voyages to New England and the Canadian Maritimes from New York. Plans for a first Alaska season were dropped in a fleet redeployment that sent her to Southampton instead, and since then she has generally divided her years between Europe and the Caribbean.

What Can You See on the Regal Princess Webcam?
Seen from the bridge, the Regal Princess Webcam always has the foremast and its crossbar in the foreground. A day at sea gives a wide spread of water under a big sky, and the mood of the frame follows the weather and the hour, bright and blue in the middle of the day, flatter and grayer under cloud. Coming into port the horizon fills with land, breakwaters and other ships, and alongside a pier the camera can look across a harbor to the town. At night only the lit mast stands out against a dark frame. Princess notes that image availability depends on visibility, weather and the satellite connection, so a new frame can be late or briefly missing.
Christened by The Love Boat Cast
Princess Cruises has long been linked with The Love Boat, and Regal Princess made the connection literal. At her naming ceremony in Fort Lauderdale on November 5, 2014, the original cast of the series christened her together: Gavin MacLeod, Fred Grandy, Ted Lange, Bernie Kopell, Lauren Tewes and Jill Whelan. In 2022 the ship became the setting for the American and Australian versions of the reality show The Real Love Boat, which aired on CBS and Network 10.
Her service record also includes a rescue. On March 5, 2019, at the request of the U.S. Coast Guard, Regal Princess picked up two U.S. citizens whose private aircraft had gone down southeast of Grand Turk, and both sailed on with the ship to St. Thomas. Like Royal Princess, she runs on four Wartsila engines producing 62.4 megawatts, which power two 18-megawatt propulsion motors for a top speed of 22.9 knots.
