Enchanted Princess Webcam – Watch the Sea from Her Bridge

Stream hours: Princess Cruises puts a new satellite image from the bridge online about every 5 minutes, and the player loads each one by itself. After dark the picture is mostly black, and a frame can lag when visibility, weather or the satellite link allow.

About this webcam

The Enchanted Princess Webcam is the bridge camera of Enchanted Princess, the fifth Royal Class ship in the Princess Cruises fleet. Instead of video, Princess posts a new satellite still from the bridge every five minutes, and the player swaps each frame in as it arrives. The camera faces forward over the bow, where a row of white masts and rigging stands along the bottom of the picture, with open water and the horizon beyond. A box in the top left corner names the ship and gives the time in UTC and in local time, the temperature sits in the top right corner, and a caption along the bottom notes whether the ship is in port or which port she is bound for.

About Enchanted Princess

Enchanted Princess was built by Fincantieri at Monfalcone, Italy, under a contract Princess finalized on April 2, 2016, as part of a five-ship agreement Carnival Corporation had struck with the yard in March 2015. Princess announced her name on August 20, 2018. The keel was laid on February 14, 2019, and she floated out on August 6, 2019. She was meant to debut in June 2020 with a Mediterranean sailing from Rome to Southampton, but the pandemic closed Fincantieri’s yards for six weeks, and the ship was delivered three months late, on September 30, 2020.

With cruising halted, she waited more than a year for her first guests. The maiden voyage finally sailed on November 10, 2021, from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, with calls at Princess Cays, St. Thomas, Dominica, Curacao and Aruba. Like her sister Sky Princess, she carries 3,660 passengers and a crew of 1,346 across 19 decks, and 81 percent of her 1,830 passenger cabins have a balcony.

What Can You See on the Enchanted Princess Webcam?

From the bridge, the Enchanted Princess Webcam looks down the length of the bow, so the forward masts and their rigging frame the bottom of every picture. Beyond them, a day at sea is mostly water and sky, and the light changes the scene from one frame to the next, from steel gray under cloud to deep blue in sun, with rain sometimes beading on the lens. Approaching land, coastlines and islands rise on the horizon, and alongside a pier the camera can look across a harbor to the buildings and hills behind it. At night the frame goes dark except for the lit masts, and Princess notes that visibility, weather and the satellite link all affect when a new image appears.

A Ship Finished During the Pandemic

Enchanted Princess came together at an unusual moment. After work resumed in 2020 she began sea trials on June 13, sailing from Monfalcone to Palermo, stayed there until June 26 and was back at the yard on June 29, completing the trials on July 8. On delivery she became the 100th passenger ship Fincantieri had built.

Her naming was just as unusual. A Fincantieri employee, Marinella Cossu, dedicated the hull at the float-out, and Princess held its own ceremony on September 17, 2019, with crew recruiter and trainer Doris Magsaysay Ho doing the honors. The christening itself moved online: three members of The Explorers Club, Lynn Danaher, Vicki Ferrini and Jenifer Austin, named the ship in a taped production streamed on December 13, 2021. Below decks, four Wartsila engines produce 62.4 megawatts for two 18-megawatt propulsion motors, good for a top speed of 23 knots (43 km/h / 26 mph).
