Majestic Princess Webcam – Royal Class Ship Built for China

Stream hours: Princess Cruises puts a new satellite image from the bridge online about every 5 minutes, and the player loads each one by itself. After dark the picture is mostly black, and a frame can lag when visibility, weather or the satellite link allow.

About this webcam

The Majestic Princess Webcam brings the bridge camera of Majestic Princess onto the page, the third Royal Class ship in the Princess Cruises fleet and the one first fitted out for cruising from China. Princess refreshes the picture with a new satellite still every five minutes, so the player shows a series of photographs rather than moving video. The ship’s name and the time in UTC and in local time sit in a box in the top left corner, the outside temperature in the top right, and a caption across the bottom gives either the port she is in or the one she is bound for. Everything between those overlays is the view ahead of the bow, which can be empty ocean one hour and a harbor skyline the next.

About Majestic Princess

Princess ordered the then unnamed ship from Fincantieri on July 30, 2014, at a cost of 600 million euros, planning a third copy of Royal Princess and Regal Princess. In May 2015 the line announced that she would be based in China year-round and modified to suit. Her keel was laid at Monfalcone, Italy, on July 10, 2015, the name was revealed on October 9, 2015, and she floated out on February 8, 2016. Sea trials followed in January 2017, and Princess took delivery on March 30, 2017.

Her first cruise, on April 4, 2017, was a five-day round trip from Rome to Kotor and Corfu. After a month in the Mediterranean she set off on a 49-day voyage to Asia and arrived in Shanghai on July 9, 2017, where Yao Ming and Ye Li christened her the same day. The year-round China plan soon gave way to a split between East Asia and Australia: from 2017 to 2021 she sailed from Keelung between April and August and from Sydney between September and March. Alaska seasons from Seattle followed from 2021 until September 2024, and the Caribbean and Europe came next. She is registered in the United Kingdom.

What Can You See on the Majestic Princess Webcam?

The Majestic Princess Webcam looks forward from the bridge over the bow, so the frame is shaped by where the ship is pointed. A sea day gives a long, level horizon with water below and sky above, and the light carries the picture, sharp and bright in sun, soft and gray under cloud or rain. Approaching land, a coastline, an island chain or a busy channel full of other ships slides into view, and in port the camera can look across a harbor to the buildings and hills around it. After dark the frame turns almost black, broken only by a few deck lights. Princess notes that visibility, weather and the satellite connection all affect when a new image appears.

Built for the Chinese Market

Majestic Princess was the Royal Class ship adapted for passengers from China. She was outfitted with Chinese signage, announcements and offerings throughout, and with facilities chosen for Chinese tastes, among them a specialty restaurant centered on Cantonese cuisine, a tea bar, a VIP casino and private karaoke rooms. Her Chinese name, chosen by employees of Carnival PLC China, translates literally as Golden Age Princess, and the company rendered it in English as Grand World or Grand Spirit.

Under the adaptations she is a Royal Class ship like her sisters. Four Wartsila engines produce a total of 62.4 megawatts for two 18-megawatt propulsion motors, giving her a service speed of 22 knots and a top speed of 23 knots (43 km/h / 26 mph), and the ship can carry up to 5,600 passengers and crew.
