About Amadea
Amadea was built in Japan by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Nagasaki and entered service in 1991. The ship originally sailed as Asuka before becoming Amadea in 2006 and entering service with Phoenix Reisen. It sails under the flag of the Bahamas.
At approximately 193 m (633 ft) long and 25 m (82 ft) wide, Amadea is considerably smaller than many of the large resort-style cruise ships built today. Phoenix Reisen lists a maximum passenger capacity of 570, with a crew of around 315. The ship has eight passenger decks or levels and a cruising speed of approximately 14 to 18 knots (26 to 33 km/h / 16 to 21 mph).
Regular renovations have kept the vessel in service long after its original launch.
