Sun Princess Webcam – Princess Cruises’ First LNG Ship

Sun Princess Webcam – Princess Cruises’ First LNG Ship

Stream hours: Princess Cruises puts a new satellite image from the bridge online about every 5 minutes, and the player loads each one by itself. After dark the picture is mostly black, and a frame can lag when visibility, weather or the satellite link allow.

About this webcam

The Sun Princess Webcam looks out from the bridge of Sun Princess, the lead ship of the Sphere Class and the first Princess Cruises ship to run on liquefied natural gas. Princess updates the picture with a fresh satellite still every five minutes, so the player shows a sequence of photographs rather than live video. A flagstaff stands at the bottom center of the frame, and the overlays follow the fleet pattern: the ship’s name with the UTC and local times in the top left corner, the temperature and a weather symbol in the top right, and a caption across the bottom saying whether the ship is in port or which port she is heading for. In harbor the view can span a whole bay, with breakwaters, cranes and a ridge of hills behind the town.

About Sun Princess

Princess ordered Sun Princess from Fincantieri on July 23, 2018, and the final contract for the first two Sphere Class ships followed in March 2019. She was floated out at Monfalcone, Italy, in March 2023 and ran sea trials in November 2023 and January 2024. Two weeks before the expected handover, Princess and the yard agreed to push delivery back without giving a reason, and the maiden voyage moved from February 8 to February 28, 2024, a Mediterranean sailing.

She is the third Princess ship to carry the name. Ted Lasso actress Hannah Waddingham named her in the Port of Barcelona on April 23, 2024. In October of that year the ship crossed to Florida for Caribbean sailings, after a refurbishment that moved and reconfigured several restaurants and removed attractions from the Park19 family area. At 177,882 GT she shares the title of largest ship in the fleet with her sister Star Princess, which joined in 2025.

What Can You See on the Sun Princess Webcam?

The camera faces forward over the bow, with the flagstaff and its flag rising from the bottom of the frame. At sea the rest of the picture is water and sky, the horizon cutting it in two and the weather plain to read from the light. Near the coast, headlands, islands and passing ships appear, and in port the Sun Princess Webcam can take in breakwaters, barges, quays and a skyline climbing the hills behind. After dark the image is mostly black. Princess notes that image availability depends on visibility, weather and the satellite connection, so the latest frame can lag a little behind the clock printed in its own caption.

The Sphere Class Design

The Sphere Class is a new platform for Princess, with a more modern look than the Royal Class ships before it. Its namesake is the Sphere, an outward-facing, suspended structure that takes the central Piazza into a new form, and at the top of the ship sits The Dome, a geodesic, glass-enclosed space that Princess says was inspired by the terraces of Santorini. Both glass elements are visible from outside the ship. Sun Princess has 21 decks and 2,157 staterooms, 80 of them suites, and she is registered in Hamilton, Bermuda.

The fuel is the other big change. Sun Princess was the first ship in the fleet to be fueled by liquefied natural gas, and the choice carries through the Sphere Class, so her sister Star Princess runs on it too. Princess lists her height at 61 meters (200 feet).
