Superior, Wisconsin

The Blatnik Bridge stretches over the St. Louis Bay, linking the cities of Duluth, Minnesota and Superior, Wisconsin. Also known as the Interstate Bridge, it’s part of I-535 and serves as a key route for both local commuters and freight trucks heading between the Twin Ports. The structure cuts across a wide expanse of water, and from it, you get open views of the harbor, rail yards, and Lake Superior in the distance.

This area is shaped by its industrial past and present. The ports of Duluth and Superior are two of the largest on the Great Lakes, and you’ll often spot massive freighters coming and going beneath the bridge. Rail lines, warehouses, and grain elevators surround the bay, giving the region a working, gritty character.

While it’s primarily a functional crossing, the bridge also offers a different perspective on the geography of the area. Duluth rises sharply from the shoreline, while Superior sits on flatter land across the bay. The bridge connects not just two cities, but two states—and two very different topographies. Whether you’re checking the Blatnik Bridge webcam for traffic, ships, or just to see what the sky’s doing over the bay, it’s a place where there’s almost always something moving.
