Live webcam from Block Island, a small island located off the coast of Rhode Island, USA.
The island is accessible by ferry from Point Judith, Rhode Island, and from New London, Connecticut. There’s also a small airport with flights from the mainland.
The island was originally inhabited by the Narragansett Indians, who called it ‘Manisses’. First recorded by Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524, the island was later named Block Island after the Dutch explorer Adriaen Block, who visited the island in 1614.
Today, approximately 1,000 people call this island home. The island’s economy mainly revolves around tourism and fishing.
