Killington Webcam – Watch Vermont’s Beast of the East

The Killington Webcam looks up the Superstar trail from the K-1 base area in central Vermont, with the ski slope running through the middle of the frame and the wooded shoulder of Skye Peak behind it. The camera sits at roughly 765 meters (2,510 feet), taking in the lift line and the full cut of the trail. Through summer the slope is mowed grass and the chairs hang empty above it. From late October the same ground goes white under heavy snowmaking, and on Thanksgiving weekend it can be a World Cup race course. About Killington

Six connected peaks make up the resort, which sits in the town of Killington, Rutland County, about 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) east of Rutland. Killington Peak tops out at 1,293 meters (4,241 feet). Skye Peak, the one this camera faces, reaches 1,158 meters (3,800 feet). The resort counts 155 trails across 611 hectares (1,509 acres) and a vertical drop of 930 meters (3,050 feet), the largest in New England. It opened on December 13, 1958, and has long gone by the nickname Beast of the East.

Superstar is the reason the Killington Webcam points where it does. The trail drops off Skye Peak toward the base and holds the deepest snow on the mountain, because the resort aims a large share of its snowmaking at it. The Stifel Killington Cup brings Audi FIS Ski World Cup women’s races here over Thanksgiving weekend, and the 2026 edition on November 27 to 29 is the ninth. A six-person chairlift, the Superstar Express Six, replaced the old quad in December 2025.

Weather and Climate in Killington

Summer is short and mild at this elevation. July is the warmest month, with highs near 27 C (80 F) and nights around 16 C (60 F), and the slope in frame stays green into September. October brings the color the Green Mountains are known for, the ridge turning before the lower slopes. Low cloud on Skye Peak can hide the summit for hours.

Winter runs long. Averages sit between about -13 and -6 C (8 and 22 F) through the coldest months, and the resort reports around 635 centimeters (250 inches) of natural snow in a typical season, backed by snowmaking across 243 hectares (600 acres). That is why the white lane in this frame appears well before the woods around it hold snow, and why it is often the last strip still covered in May.

Things to Do Near Killington

The mountain stays busy through the warm months. Killington Bike Park is the largest lift-served bike park in the East, with 36 downhill trails open in summer, among them Blue Magic and Sideshow Bob. The Beast Mountain Coaster, installed in 2015, runs 1,463 meters (4,800 feet) down the hillside at the Snowshed base, next to a zip line racer and the ropes course. The K-1 Express Gondola carries walkers to the summit from the lodge at the foot of the slope the Killington Webcam watches.

Hiking is the other draw. The Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail run as one footpath along the ridge behind the resort, with a short spur to the summit rocks of Killington Peak. Gifford Woods State Park sits at the foot of both Killington and Pico, with an old-growth stand of sugar maple and a campground the two trails pass through. Kent Pond is across the road. Pico Mountain next door reaches 1,209 meters (3,967 feet).
