About this webcam

The Sugarbush Webcam looks across the base of the Super Bravo Express at Lincoln Peak, one of the two mountains of Sugarbush Resort in Warren, Vermont. The lift’s dark, pyramid-roofed terminal stands on the right of the frame with its name on a board over the loading area, while dirt service roads curve past it and lift cables climb into the trees. The Valley House Lodge fills the left side. In early October the trails are green grass and the hillside behind the lift turns orange, red and gold. Winter changes the picture: the resort projects opening day for the 2026-27 season on November 21, 2026, and from then this base turns white, with skiers boarding the chairs. A second tab watches the summit snow stake near the top of Heaven’s Gate.

About Sugarbush Resort

Sugarbush spreads across two mountains in the Mad River Valley. Lincoln Peak, the one on this camera, tops out at 1,212 meters (3,975 feet), and Mount Ellen to the north reaches 1,244 meters (4,083 feet). The Slide Brook Express, a chairlift 3.4 kilometers (2.1 miles) long, links the two. Together they hold 111 trails and 16 chairlifts over 206 hectares (508 acres), with a vertical drop of 790 meters (2,600 feet) from a base elevation of 452 meters (1,483 feet). Damon and Sara Gadd and Jack Murphy opened the resort on December 25, 1958, and Alterra Mountain Company has owned it since November 2019.

The Super Bravo Express on the right of this shot is a high-speed quad installed in 1995, and the resort’s Reserve Pass includes priority lane access to it. The curved roof in front of the Valley House Lodge belongs to the Valley House Quad, which replaced the old Valley House Double in 2015. Pickup trucks and SUVs can be parked beside the lift, and a stone patio with a fire pit and boulders runs along the bottom of the frame. Nearby, the Gate House and Farmhouse lodges and the Clay Brook condominiums make up Lincoln Peak Village, an $80 million project completed in 2010.

Heaven’s Gate, installed in 2024, is the only lift to the summit of Lincoln Peak, and the resort’s summit snow stake stands near its top. On the second tab, a wooden ruler marked every 3 inches rises from a pale board cut in the shape of mountain peaks, and the sign at its base reads Elevation 3975′, the summit height of 1,212 meters (3,975 feet). The stake is part of a collaboration with the Yestermorrow Design/Build School, and Sugarbush uses it to measure snowfall at the top of the mountain.

Weather and Climate in Sugarbush

Winters at the base are cold and snowy. January averages highs around -3 C (26 F) and lows near -12 C (11 F), and the summit runs colder still. Average snowfall is about 670 centimeters (262 inches) a season, which is when the snow stake earns its place: a fresh storm reads straight off the ruler. The resort projects the 2026-27 season to run from November 21 to May 2, so the lift base can stay white well into spring, when April highs reach about 9 C (49 F) and nights hover near freezing.

Summer is mild and green, with July highs around 24 C (76 F), and July is also the wettest month. Fall is the season on screen in early October, with highs near 13 C (56 F), lows around 6 C (43 F) and the trees behind the lift in full color. By November highs drop to about 5 C (41 F), nights fall below freezing and the first snow can dust the grass trails.

Things to Do Near Sugarbush

Lincoln Peak is busy outside ski season too. Scenic lift rides run there in summer, and an 18-hole disc golf course is laid out on the mountain. The resort’s golf course is a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design, and the Sugarbush Health and Racquet Club at Lincoln Peak is open year-round with pools, hot tubs, saunas, a climbing wall, tennis and pickleball.

Off the mountain, Warren Falls on the Mad River is a chain of deep pools carved into the bedrock, a favorite swimming hole that gets crowded in July and August. Lincoln Gap Road climbs from Warren to Lincoln Gap, a pass at 739 meters (2,424 feet) where the Long Trail crosses. From the gap, a 4.2-kilometer (2.6-mile) hike reaches the 1,221-meter (4,006-foot) summit of Mount Abraham, one of Vermont’s five peaks above 4,000 feet. Mad River Glen, the valley’s other ski area, lies a few miles to the north.
