Live webcam from Marienplatz, located in the heart of Munich, the capital city of Bavaria, Germany. The square is named after the Mariensäule, or Mary’s Column, which stands at its center. The column was erected in 1638 to celebrate the end of the Swedish occupation of Munich during the Thirty Years’ War. Today, the Mariensäule is a popular meeting spot for locals and tourists alike. Surrounding the column are iconic buildings such as the Neues Rathaus and Frauenkirche. Marienplatz also offers shopping, dining, and a famous Christmas market.
