Things to Do Near Windsor

Almost everything worth walking to from this block is north, toward the water. The Windsor Riverfront Trail runs about 5.17 kilometers (3.2 miles) along the bank, part of a wider waterfront route of roughly 25 kilometers (15.5 miles), around 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) of it off road. It links Ambassador Park to Centennial Park and Dieppe Gardens, then carries on past Festival Plaza to the Bert Weeks Memorial Garden and the Clifford and Joan Hatch Wildflower Garden. Dieppe Gardens itself, at 78 Riverside Drive West, is the memorial park closest to downtown and the usual place to stand and look across at the Detroit skyline.

Set into more than 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) of the same trail is the Windsor Sculpture Park, an outdoor collection of over 30 works, free and open year round. Closer in, the Downtown Windsor Farmers Market runs on Pelissier Street, a couple of minutes from the streets on camera. A few minutes further out, Willistead Manor gives the city its grandest historic house, and Caesars Windsor sits between downtown and the river. For a longer day, the road southeast through Kingsville to Point Pelee National Park and back makes a loop of about 140 kilometers (87 miles), the standard route for spring and fall bird migration.
