The Margaritaville Fort Myers Beach Webcam looks out from Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach, at the foot of the Matanzas Pass Bridge on Estero Island in southwest Florida. The main camera sits high above the resort’s pool deck, where teal umbrellas crowd the water’s edge and a thatched-roof pavilion stands just below the lens. Beyond a green lawn and a road with passing traffic, a line of palms marks the beach, and past that the Gulf runs flat to the horizon. For now the frame also holds a construction crane and a row of pilings just offshore, the first pieces of the new Fort Myers Beach Pier. The resort streams three more cameras from around the property, and the tabs on the player switch between all four.

About Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach

The resort opened to the public on December 7, 2023, at 251 Crescent Street. It cost $200 million and covers 7.25 acres (2.9 hectares) at the base of the bridge, with 254 rooms, a spa, six restaurants and a sunset terrace facing the Gulf of Mexico. Two of those restaurants, the JWB Grill and the License to Chill Bar and Grill, lend their names to cameras. The Fins Up Beach Club, a separate pool complex, was scheduled to follow in mid-January 2024.

After years of delays and debate, it opened into a town still clearing up after Hurricane Ian. The storm made landfall north of Fort Myers Beach as a Category 4 hurricane on September 28, 2022, and damaged most of the homes and businesses along the shore, Times Square among them. At opening the resort employed 400 people, many of whom had lost hospitality jobs to the storm. Fort Myers Beach itself is small: 5,582 residents at the 2020 census, a town only since December 31, 1995, and about 0.9 meters (3 feet) above sea level.

Ian also took the old pier, and its replacement is the biggest change in frame. Lee County broke ground on August 21, 2026, next to Lynn Hall Memorial Park. The new pier will run roughly 305 meters (1,000 feet) into the Gulf and measure 3.7 meters (12 feet) wide, more than 70 percent longer and 50 percent wider than the one it replaces. The county expects to finish in late summer 2027, weather permitting.

License to Chill is the widest of the four views. The pool deck, the lawn and a pale hotel wing fill the foreground, the road crosses the middle of the picture, and the sand and open water take up the top third. The Pier Rebuild camera looks across a wide stretch of white sand to the construction site, where the crane works from a platform at the water’s edge and lines of pilings step out into the Gulf. Watching that camera over the coming months is the simplest way to follow the pier going up.

JWB Grill uses a fisheye lens from high above the beach, taking in a volleyball net, strips of dune planting, a blue lifeguard stand and the curve of the shoreline in a single shot. Fins Up Beach Club looks down on the resort’s pool complex instead, with palms, a thatched hut, a pink building and a high-rise on the skyline behind. Light and weather change all four more than anything else, and a gray afternoon can flatten the Gulf to the color of pewter.

Weather and Climate in Fort Myers Beach

Winter is the mildest time of year on Estero Island. January highs average about 24 C (75 F) and lows about 13 C (55 F). Spring then warms steadily toward the summer numbers.

Summer is hot. July highs average close to 32 C (89 F), and nights stay around 24 C (75 F). The town gets roughly 1,420 millimeters (56 inches) of rain a year, and a passing storm can turn the frame dark and wet within minutes before it clears again. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, and Ian arrived near its peak in late September. Autumn then eases back toward the mild winter pattern.

Things to Do Near Margaritaville Fort Myers Beach

Times Square is a short walk from the resort. Its landmark clock is back after the storm, and a farmers market sets up there every Friday. Lynn Hall Memorial Park, the county beach park beside the pier site, has its parking lot closed until the pier is finished. The Mound House, at 451 Connecticut Street, is the oldest house in Fort Myers Beach, with parts dating to 1906, and it stands on a shell mound left by the Calusa people. It now runs as a museum, and its last storm-damaged exhibit, Stories Beneath Our Feet, reopened on December 1, 2023.

About 15 minutes south of downtown by car or trolley, Lovers Key State Park spreads across four islands with a 4 kilometer (2.5 mile) beach. Kayakers there can meet manatees, and the Black Island Trail is a good place to spot gopher tortoises. Salty Sam’s Marina rents boats for a day on the water, and Lighthouse Beach Park on neighboring Sanibel Island is another beach worth the drive.
