About this webcam
The Rajecke Teplice Webcam looks down on the outdoor pool terrace of the Aphrodite spa in Rajecke Teplice, a thermal spa town in the Rajec Valley of northern Slovakia. White balustrades frame the scene, and golden winged statues stand on tall white columns between rows of sun loungers. A domed rotunda rises out of a round blue pool at the front, while a curved double staircase climbs to a columned pavilion at the back, beside a wall of piled rock. Another pool runs along the right edge, and the top left corner takes in a street with a zebra crossing and a small fountain on a roundabout. On a warm day the loungers can fill up, and late on a cool mid-October morning the right-hand pool still had a swimmer in it.
About Rajecke Teplice
Rajecke Teplice sits at 411 meters (1,348 feet) in the valley of the Rajcianka river, about 15 kilometers (9 miles) south of Zilina. Forests of the Sulov hills and the Lucanska Mala Fatra close in around it, and the whole town covers just 11.84 square kilometers (4.57 square miles). About 2,843 people lived here in 2025. The first written record dates from 1376, the place was declared a spa town in 1959, and it gained town status in 1989.
The springs are the reason it grew. They rise at about 38 C (100 F), and the water is a hypotonic hydrogen carbonate type rich in calcium and magnesium. Early accounts describe three spa pools used to treat paralysis, rheumatism, swelling and skin complaints, and the spa expanded through the 19th century for a wealthy clientele. Treatment buildings went up between 1925 and 1937, and an open-air swimming pool filled with thermal water followed in 1941.
Aphrodite, the complex the Rajecke Teplice Webcam watches, is the spa’s showpiece and stands in the center of town. Its Water World combines indoor and outdoor pools in an antique style, which explains the columns, rotunda and gilded figures in frame, and a separate Sauna World of saunas and steam baths is done in an oriental style. Elsewhere in town, the spa park has a lake with fountains and stone sculptures, and in summer a much larger outdoor pool opens beside the Hotel Laura.

Things to Do Near Rajecke Teplice
The nearest big sight is Lietava Castle, an extensive ruin in the Sulov Mountains less than 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from the spa in a straight line. It was built after 1241, most likely as an administrative and military seat, beside the Amber Road, the old trade route that carried amber and other goods across Europe. About 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) away, the Sulov Rocks national nature reserve covers 5.43 square kilometers (2.10 square miles) of crags shaped like towers, cones, needles and gates, open to hikers, climbers and cyclists. The highest point of the Sulov Mountains is Velky Manin at 890 meters (2,920 feet).
The valley itself rewards a slow drive. Higher in the hills, Cicmany sits at 645 meters (2,116 feet), about 23 kilometers (14 miles) away, and its folk architecture reserve, founded in 1977, protects a village rebuilt to its original look after a great fire in 1921. Toward Zilina, Budatin Castle stands where the Kysuca river meets the Vah, a 13th century toll fortress rebuilt in Renaissance style in the mid-16th century. Back in town there are tennis courts, minigolf, disc golf and the Rajec golf park.
