About this webcam

The Paradis Plage Webcam looks out from the Paradis Plage resort at Imi Ouaddar, a beach village on Morocco’s Atlantic coast about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) north of Taghazout. The camera sits above the resort’s gardens, so palm trees, a thatched roof and a strip of green lawn fill the foreground. Beyond them a wide sand beach lined with rows of white parasols runs away to the right, past a cluster of white and terracotta buildings, toward a low headland on the horizon. The Atlantic fills the left of the frame, and lines of white water roll in whenever a swell arrives. Walkers cross the sand through the day, and riders sometimes pass along the beach. The light changes the scene completely: a grey sea haze can wash out the horizon, while a clear day turns the water deep blue.

About Paradis Plage

Paradis Plage Surf Yoga and Spa Resort stands at kilometer 26 of the coast road from Agadir to Essaouira, between the Atlantic and the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. It began in the 1960s as a family retreat and now describes itself as Morocco’s first eco-resort. The grounds hold junior and premium suites, beach bungalows and three-bedroom villas, along with a surf school called the Surf House, the Paradise Eco Spa, daily yoga classes and restaurants that include Le Chiringuito beach bar and L’Ocean. The Paradis Plage Webcam is run by Skaping, a Grenoble company that builds tourism webcams for mountain, coastal and city destinations, and its player carries a link straight to the resort’s booking page.

The beach in front of the camera is long, broad and sandy, and it usually has far more room than the beaches in Taghazout. Waves break over a sand bottom, which makes Imi Ouaddar a beach break suited to beginners and lower intermediate surfers rather than a reef or point for experts. The village lies about 23 kilometers (14 miles) from Agadir and about 43 kilometers (27 miles) from Agadir Al Massira Airport, in the Agadir Ida-Outanane prefecture of the Souss-Massa region.

Skaping files the camera under Taghazout, the surf town a short drive south. Taghazout began as a Berber fishing village, has drawn young travelers since the late 1960s and became the center of its own municipality in 1992. It counted 5,233 residents in the 2014 census and sits 19 kilometers (12 miles) north of Agadir. Its best known breaks, Anchor Point, Hash Point and the Panorama’s beach break, are what put this coast on surfing maps.

Weather and Climate at Paradis Plage

Winters on this coast are mild and summers rarely turn hot. In nearby Agadir, January afternoons average about 21 C (70 F) with nights near 8 C (47 F), and April reaches about 23 C (74 F) by day. August is the warmest month at around 27 C (81 F) by day and 20 C (67 F) at night, and October holds on at about 26 C (79 F). Rain is scarce. Agadir records roughly 232 millimeters (9.1 inches) a year, with December the wettest month at 49 millimeters (1.9 inches), and the area gets close to 3,000 hours of sunshine a year.

The camera shows those conditions plainly. On hazy days the horizon disappears into a grey sky and the headland on the right fades out, while clear days bring a hard blue sky and sharp shadows under the palms. The cooler months bring the most consistent northwest Atlantic swells, so the surf line on the Paradis Plage Webcam tends to be busiest from autumn through winter.

Things to Do Near Paradis Plage

At the resort, the Surf House runs surf sessions and the beginner-friendly beach break sits right below the camera, with the spa and yoga classes filling the rest of the day. The coast’s famous waves are close by. Anchor Point is about 12 minutes’ drive south, with Killer Point and Hash Point along the same stretch, and the surf village of Imsouane is about an hour away by road. Quad biking and camel rides are also offered around Imi Ouaddar.

Inland, Paradise Valley is an oasis of natural pools and waterfalls, visited on guided tours with lunch or explored on foot along its trails. Taghazout itself is about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) away, and Agadir, with the region’s airport, is about 23 kilometers (14 miles) down the coast.
